Monday Makeover || French Provincial Dresser

As soon as I heard we were having a baby girl, I knew that I wanted to finally get my hands on a french provincial dresser to makeover. I have been wanting to paint a french provincial dresser for years now, at least 10. You can go back to my first pins on Pinterest and they will be French Provincial dressers. This has been a long time dream, a weird one I know. I started my hunt, and within a few days I found this one on FB marketplace for $120, so much better than the guy who was selling his for $300. I borrowed a truck, and met a lady at her storage unit. Paid, her and I was on my way with the first piece of furniture I’d paid for in a long time, I’m pretty notorious for free stuff on the side of the road, and I have no shame in that.

The dresser sat in the garage for a few months, I picked it up in December and I wasn’t quite ready to actually paint it. I was originally thinking it would be pretty light pink, but after deciding on her rug, a navy blue finish was the clear winner. At this point we are in the early stages of staying safe at home with the pandemic, so I pulled out my box of paint chips and choose a color. Paul do a no contact pickup of paint from our local hardware store so we could try and still be productive. All of my hoarded paint samples came in handy! I chose Old Navy by Benjamin Moore and it was the perfect inky deep blue, I also considered Hale Navy, just because it is a nearly no fail classic color. For knobs I knew I wanted a few bow knobs from Crate an Barrel, and I mixed in some old gold cabinet pulls from my parent’s kitchen. They had long been removed, and my mom was just storing them. I eagerly took them off her hands to save myself a little money. Here she is after!

I personally love it. I get such satisfaction from painting furniture and making it just right for my space. We still have loads to do in Emery’s room, but the dresser was an important start. Do what do you think? Worthy of my $120 and 10+ years of waiting?
