Baby Z's Quilt

Man, it is baby season! We have so many pregnant friends, which is awesome and it means the list of quilts to sew is long. First up is this quilt for my old college roomie who taught me the finer things in life - like how to play Mario cart and Mario party and didn’t judge me for my love of bubblegum vodka. She and her husband are waiting to find out the sex of their little one until they are born, so I set out scour my pinterest quilting board to find some inspiration. Being so free to choose is hard, like really hard. I came across this pin, and I knew it was the one. While my mom and I pretty much winged it in terms of design and construction, it was a fun process to make choices on the fly. I like every quilt I make to involve a new technique, or test my skills in a fun way. I rarely make the same quilt twice. This being the first of my quarantine quilts, everything was closed in terms of getting fabric and online shops were very limited in shipping… so out of necessity we pieced the back with several different fabrics plus adding another fun herringbone strip. I LOVE the way it turned out.

So, tell me what you think? I personally love how it feels just a little wonky with the herringbone strips running in opposite directions.
